Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ProPath collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit our website, join Early Access, contact us, submit business or location information, or use the ProPath mobile app.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your information responsibly. This policy covers both the ProPath website at pro-path.app and the ProPath mobile app. Where a section applies only to the app, we say so. The ProPath app is in development; app-specific practices described here take effect when the app becomes available.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that helps us operate the website, communicate with users, improve propane location data, and deliver app features.

Information you give us

  • Name and email address when you join Early Access, contact us, or submit a form.
  • Message content submitted through contact, waitlist, business listing, or location report forms.
  • Mobile phone number and SMS notification consent when an authorized ProPath business owner configures a phone number to receive operational Human Attention notifications.
  • Business information you provide as a propane retailer, dealer, distributor, campground, RV park, or partner, including business name, address, hours, services, and contact details.
  • Propane location reports, price updates, service corrections, and feedback you submit.
  • Account information if you create a ProPath account in the app, such as email address and authentication credentials.

Information collected automatically

  • Website usage information, including pages visited, referring page, browser type, device type, approximate region derived from IP address, and performance data.
  • App device information, including device model, operating system version, app version, and crash or diagnostic data.
  • Device identifiers used to keep you signed in, deliver notifications, and diagnose problems.
  • Approximate or precise location in the app, only when location features are enabled and you have granted permission.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, payment card numbers, health information, or biometric data. ProPath does not process payments directly.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to operate ProPath, respond to users, improve the website and app, and make propane location data more accurate.

  • Respond to questions, support requests, feedback, and business inquiries.
  • Manage Early Access registrations and send launch updates.
  • Send operational SMS notifications to an authorized ProPath business owner when a business event requires human attention, review, or action.
  • Show propane locations near you and provide directions, hours, services, and pricing information.
  • Improve propane location listings, service types, hours, prices, and overall accuracy.
  • Verify business or location information submitted by users or propane businesses.
  • Create and maintain your account, and keep you signed in across sessions.
  • Diagnose crashes, measure performance, and understand which features are used.
  • Protect the website, forms, app, and users from spam, fraud, misuse, or security issues.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.

3. Location Information

ProPath exists to help you find nearby propane. The app requests location permission so it can show propane refill, exchange, RV-friendly, dealer, and other propane-related locations near you, and to sort results by distance.

Location is used while you are actively using the app. ProPath does not track your location in the background, and does not build a history of your movements. Location coordinates sent to our servers to run a nearby search are used to return results and are not stored as part of a personal location history.

You can deny or revoke location access at any time through your device settings. If you do, you can still search by entering a city, ZIP code, or address, though distance-based features will be limited.

4. User-Submitted Location Data

Users may submit propane locations, service updates, price reports, corrections, or other details. ProPath may review, edit, verify, display, or remove submitted information as needed to improve the service.

Information you submit about a business or location may be displayed publicly in the app and on the website. Your name and email are not published alongside a submission unless you ask us to credit you.

Please do not submit private information about another person. Business listing information should be accurate to the best of your knowledge.

5. Push Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app may send alerts about propane availability, price changes at saved locations, service updates, or account activity. Delivering notifications requires a device push token, which is provided by Apple or Google and stored so we can reach your device.

You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings or in the app. Turning them off does not affect any other app feature.

6. SMS Notifications

ProPath may send operational text messages to an authorized ProPath business owner who has configured and consented to receive Human Attention notifications. These messages are intended to alert the owner when a business event requires review, attention, or action. They are not customer marketing messages or promotional campaigns.

Message frequency varies based on business events requiring attention. Message and data rates may apply.

SMS delivery is provided through third-party messaging infrastructure, including Twilio. ProPath uses the mobile number and SMS consent information only as needed to provide the requested operational notification service.

We do not sell or share SMS opt-in data, mobile phone numbers, or SMS consent information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

The authorized recipient may opt out of ProPath SMS notifications at any time by replying STOP. For help, reply HELP or contact hello@pro-path.app. Opting out of SMS notifications does not delete other ProPath account or business information.

7. Third-Party Services

ProPath relies on third-party providers to run the website and app. These providers process information on our behalf and are permitted to use it only to deliver their service to us. Providers fall into the following categories:

  • Mapping and location services — used to display maps, geocode addresses, and calculate distance and directions. Map providers receive the location or address being searched. Google Maps Platform usage is also governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting and database — used to store website content, business listings, location reports, and account data.
  • Email delivery — used to send Early Access updates, replies to inquiries, and account-related messages.
  • SMS messaging — Twilio is used to deliver authorized ProPath operational SMS notifications to the configured business phone destination. Twilio processes the information necessary to transmit those messages under its own privacy terms.
  • Analytics and performance monitoring — used to understand site and app usage in aggregate and to diagnose errors.
  • Advertising — used to display ads on the website, as described in the Cookies and Similar Technologies section below.
  • App distribution — the Apple App Store and Google Play handle app delivery, updates, and push notification routing under their own privacy policies.
  • Security and spam prevention — used to protect forms and accounts from automated abuse.

If you would like the current list of named providers, contact us using the details below.

8. Sharing Information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

SMS opt-in data, mobile phone numbers used for ProPath notifications, and SMS consent information are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

We share limited information with the service providers described above, and with propane businesses when you specifically ask us to connect you or when you submit a listing or correction concerning their location.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to comply with valid legal process, to protect rights or safety, or to prevent fraud, spam, or misuse. If ProPath is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, and we will post notice here before it becomes subject to a different policy.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The ProPath website uses cookies and similar technologies to support site functionality, forms, performance, security, and analytics. The mobile app uses local device storage rather than cookies to remember your preferences and keep you signed in.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

Third-party advertising

The ProPath website uses third-party vendors, including Google, to serve ads. These vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites on the Internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to pro-path.app and/or other sites.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You may also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. For more information about how Google uses data when you use our site, visit Google's Partner Sites policy.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information submitted through ProPath, including encryption in transit, access controls on our systems, and restricted administrative access.

No website, app, database, or online service can guarantee complete security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

12. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including communication, waitlist management, service improvement, legal compliance, and business operations.

Early Access and contact information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Account information is kept while your account is active, and deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request. Location coordinates used to run a nearby search are not retained as personal history, though standard server logs containing IP addresses may be kept for a limited period for security and diagnostics. Submitted business and location listings may be retained as part of the propane location database after an account is deleted, because that information describes a business rather than you.

13. Your Choices and Data Deletion

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information you have submitted. You may unsubscribe from Early Access and marketing emails using the link in any message, or by contacting us.

If you have a ProPath account, you can delete it and its associated personal data from within the app under Account Settings, or by emailing hello@pro-path.app with the subject line "Delete My Account" from the address associated with the account. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days. Some records may be retained where required for legal, tax, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

You can control location permissions and notification permissions at any time through your device settings, and cookie behavior through your browser settings.

14. Children's Privacy

ProPath is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

15. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

ProPath does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, including information of consumers under 16.

To exercise a California privacy right, contact us using the details below. We will verify your request using the email address associated with your submission or account.

16. Other Regional Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state, federal, or international privacy laws, including rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to object to certain processing.

ProPath is operated from the United States, and information is processed and stored there. To make a privacy-related request, contact us at the address below. We do not charge a fee for reasonable requests and will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

17. Updates to This Policy

ProPath may update this Privacy Policy as the website, app, features, business model, service providers, or legal requirements change.

Updates are posted on this page with a revised date. If we make a material change to how we handle personal information, we will provide more prominent notice, such as an email or an in-app notice.
