Affiliate Disclosure

Why you're reading this

ProPath is free to use. Part of how we keep it that way is affiliate marketing and paid business partnerships. Federal Trade Commission guidelines require us to tell you clearly when we have a financial relationship with a company whose products or locations we show you, and we'd tell you anyway. This page explains every commercial relationship that could shape what you see on this site and in our app.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a tagged link to a retailer. If you click it and buy something, that retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is identical to what you'd pay going to the retailer directly — the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.

Where affiliate links appear

You may encounter affiliate links in:

• Gear and equipment recommendations — tanks, regulators, hoses, adapters, grills, generators, heaters, and related accessories
• Guides, checklists, and how-to articles
• Seasonal and emergency preparedness content
• Emails and social posts published by ProPath

We participate in retail affiliate programs run by outdoor, home improvement, and general merchandise retailers. Where a link is affiliated, we label it or note it near the recommendation.

How supplier listings work

This is the part that matters most, so we'll be specific. ProPath's core job is helping you find propane near you. Search results are generated from location, availability, public station data, and the details each business and our users provide. Retailers who pay us affiliate commissions on gear have no connection to that system and no ability to influence it.

Partner businesses

Propane businesses can list with ProPath for free. Some choose to become paid ProPath partners. A partner may receive priority placement in the app and on the website, and its listing is labeled (for example, “Founding Partner”) so you can always tell it apart from a standard result. Partners may also pay ProPath a fee on sales that come through ProPath, such as a purchase made with a ProPath code or link. That fee is paid by the business and never added to your price.

Being a partner does not change a business's prices, hours, or other listing details, and it does not let a business edit or remove price reports submitted by ProPath users. A business listed without a partner label has not paid for its placement.

Sponsored content and free products

Occasionally a brand pays us to produce content, or sends us a product at no cost to evaluate. When that happens we say so directly in the post — at the top, not buried at the bottom. Being paid or given a product doesn't buy a positive opinion. If something doesn't perform, we say that.

How we decide what to recommend

We recommend gear based on what actually works for the people who use ProPath: RVers, grillers, boondockers, and food truck operators. Commission rates are not a factor in what makes the list. When a product we'd genuinely recommend has no affiliate program, we still recommend it and link to it.

Links to other websites

Once you click through to a retailer or a supplier's own site, you're on their turf. Their privacy policy, terms, pricing, returns, and shipping apply, not ours. We aren't responsible for what happens on third-party sites, though we'd like to know if a link sends you somewhere broken or misleading.

Changes to this disclosure

As ProPath adds partners and revenue sources, this page gets updated. The date at the top always reflects the current version. See also our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
